  1. Yes, that is the story of the 2600-versions. But the 7800-titles weren't produced by Coleco. They were made by Atari Corporation. I think, that's another

right yea they were, after Atari got the home console rights for Donkey Kong through Coleco

  2. I'm glad CBS finally resolved their legal dispute with the guys making Axanar. Axanar is a Star Trek fan film that was crowdfunded and caught the attention of studio heads at CBS which holds the TV rights to Star Trek and it resulted in a law suit. One of the stars is Richard Hatch who sadly passed away this week. Here's the preview film they made for the kickstarter. It looks incredible for a fan film. Definitely looks better than Phantom Menace!

  3. Was AVP running in a different graphics mode or with an added chip? To me AVP looks better than most stuff on 16-bit consoles short of FX chip games. Seems like it would be another story where the game required an extra chip that Jack Tramiel wouldn't have wanted to pay for.

I'm asking about AVP for the Lynx which is what this thread is about. Thanks!

Also, Carl Williams did post honestly about Coleco Chameleon and his article on AVP was ok but could have done w/ out the immature pot-shots at Atari. Seems like the past 10 years (since social media?) it's been non stop in articles covering Atari. Some people are fascinated by failure I guess.

  5. From Polygon:

Key figure quits beleaguered project to make a new Coleco console

Prototype unit was accused of being 'a SNES Jr. duct-taped into a Jaguar shell'

Smart of this dude to apologize and resign. But what's Mike Kennedy's way out? I don't see one. He can't really resign from his own thing. How does this end?

  6. I just watched those videos MaximumRD posted and watched them twice. It's hard not to wince when you see it. To me it looks like they didn't have their board ready for the NY Toy Fair and knew things would go into a tail spin if they didn't show up with the product as promised, so they went into panic mode and made it work with a SNES Jr board stuffed in that Jag shell. My guess is there's a real board out there being worked on but it's behind schedule. Even if it was the real deal they need to be at trade shows with pre production units, not breadboards.

This has gone from Comedy to Tragedy. This thing is slipping away. :atari_jaguar:
