That's a hell of a deal! Smart choice also. Despite what the haters say, the 5200 is a wonderful machine!

Wow. It's really hard to tell from that angle. Looks to be long, slender and red.
Is there any more to the image or any memories you have that might help identify it?

I recently found a picture from my Thanksgiving, 1987.
That Thanksgiving is memorable as I spent it at my cousin's in New Jersey. They had a sweet finished basement where we spent many hours playing the NES (mainly Pro Wrestling).
However, according to this image, that wasn't the only game being played.
I don't recall ever seeing this or playing it but I'm curious as to what it is. I'm not sure if anyone can tell based on this crappy image, but if anyone can, it will be someone here.

Total hogwash. There are a bunch of GBA games "built-in", but nowhere near 10,000.

What's with the 10,000 games built in??

Well, I took a little gamble and purchased one of these on Ebay. The part that intrigued me was that it will play NES and GBA ROMS that you can install on the device.
It arrived today, and here's my impression so far:
It does indeed play NES and GBA ROM files just fine. They are easy to load on the unit using a USB cable. I've been using the NES emulation mostly, and it seems pretty spot on. Sounds are good. It mentions SMS compatibility too, but I haven't tried that. GBA games also work great. The screen is very nice and bright. It looks great. Sounds are good too. You can also use it as a media device. Music and video files play fine. It has a camera. Have not tried it. The case design is a blatant rip-off of the PSP (see my pic below). It's very lightweight and feels a little cheap. Very similar to the 2600 flashback portable. Mine may (or may not) be defective -- It's been charging for about an hour but won't turn on without it being plugged in. I'll let it charge overnight and see if that's what it needs. Documentation? Not a single word. You're on your own figuring this thing out. Assuming the battery works, I think this thing is really cool. My plan is to load up a ton of NES and GBA roms and take it with me on the go. There are some GREAT games for those systems.
Picture below is the MP5 unit on top (in blue) and a real PSP on the bottom.

Thanks!

I dream of attending events like that. Looks like a LOT of fun! On the TG-16 you usually press the RUN button to start the games.
SMS Great Football is one sports title I enjoyed playing. And that Amiga is a sexy beast!! Never owned one before...would not mind having one. Very nice!!

Next was the annual Cowlitz Gamers for Kids retro gaming show in Longview, WA. I go to this one every year, and it's a great time AND it's for a great cause -- helping disadvantaged kids in Cowlitz County, WA.
The "Free Play" area is a total blast. Try out the systems you don't have.
Sega Saturn:
Genesis/Sega CD/32X Monster Combo
7800
5200
Oooooooooh! Jaguar. I played it for a long while. Gautlet 2. A good game, but why does your guy fire so slowly?
TurboGrafx! It had a really sweet SD-Cart with tons of ROMS. Unfortunately, I think the controller was defective. Games would load, but I couldn't figure out how to start a game
Amiga! WOW!
INTV and a VIC-20 -- they covered all the bases.
C64 and 3DO
Colecovision anyone?
Overview of the vendors:
Forum member Paul and his EightBitFix booth. Great stuff as always:
And the RickR haul. Please note, I started walking around thinking there's nothing here I need or want, a little depressed from recent events I suppose. But sure enough, I found MORE than enough stuff to buy, spent more than I wanted, but really had a great time and got lost in the moment to forget my troubles for a short while. This hobby can be the best.

TWO shows for me today -- a very busy day.
First was the Vancouver (Washington) Vintage Toy and Record show. I helped a friend transport and set up a LaserDisc booth. Learned a lot and had a great time. And came home with a better LD player and a bunch of discs.
A bad selfie of the Laserdisc table.
I pity the fool that don't buy Mr T and Alf plushies.
Big Jim! It's the low-rent alternative to GI Joe!
All kinds of toys here -- lots of Hot Wheels, action figures, etc, etc. etc.
Back to the Future 2 Hoverboard anyone?
And finally, the RickR haul of movies:

greenween reacted to GRay Defender in KC Monochrome Dreams on the AFP
First off, welcome to Atari IO! I for one would love to see this game ported to the handheld atari unit.

greenween reacted to Mr SQL in KC Monochrome Dreams on the AFP
Hello Atari IO community!
I'm working on converting this SuperCharger game to run on the Atari Flashback Portable!
KC was an incredible classic game that took Pacman to the next level with moving game character dots and an ever changing maze; KCMM builds on these new Pacman mechanics by constantly morphing a large portion of the giant 4-way scrolling maze, like the Jr Pacman mechanics but in 4 directions.
KC Monochrome dreams was approved by KC's Dad, Ed Averett and I think it would be awesome to see it running on the new portable Atari! Even cooler if Atari does a 180 and endorses KC for the next release - would you like to see this game included as one of the built-in games in future Flashback editions??
It should be pretty easy to convert the game to the AFP because while the game is written in Assembly, it uses a compatible BASIC runtime to Flashback BASIC. I might add a second monster maze too since the AFP runtime can support multiple virtual worlds while the SuperCharger only has one!
The game PIXELS (like the movie) also incorporates Pacman and KC elements and has already been patched for the AFP, the game ROM is attached along with a pic of the tiny cart with tiny label artwork.
Pixels.bin
There is an awesome play through review of PIXELS on the AFP by Doctor Clu here and an equally awesome review of KC by Metal Jesus and John Hancock here.

greenween reacted to Scott Stilphen in Atari National Pac Man Day is April 3rd (1982)!
Here's some from a local newspaper, proving that the game was indeed available a few weeks earlier.
Btw, I'm not sure why this thread is in the Arcade Life section since the whole Pac-Man Day event was about the VCS version
