Squad Challenge - Pinball (NES)

Ermahgerd, this game is impossible. Perhaps the e-reader sticking out of the bottom of my DS is causing a problem. At least the game stays in there, I forgot about that.

I'm surprised it fits the DS GBA slot. It fits a bit funny in my SP, since it was made for the original model GBA.

It also took me awhile to get the first card to scan right  :P

I'm only giving this game one playthrough. It is a fun game but a bit frustrating for me. A lot of cheap bounces and ricochets against your favor and it makes me want to throw the controller. Pinball is mainly luck and ball placement. And I can get neither.

Don't get frustrated Retrogamer81081! Just play and have fun :) There is skill involved, it's not all random. But it's all for "nerd cred" as RickR coined and meant to be friendly fun competition. Luck will come your way!

Whoa - the No Swear Gamer's score made me swear!  Seriously impressive gamers in here.

Rumor has it my high scores also cause people to get pushed down the stairs.

Not sure what that is all about....

Had an amazing game, with most points scored on my first ball (Isn't that how pinball usually is, scoring most of your points on a single ball?)

After first ball: 239,320

Final Score: 329,850

Well, I was going to post another score until I read the forums and saw this, wow!

Oh please don't let me score keep anyone from playing!

Like real pinball, that was just a great single ball were everything came together.  Seriously, most my games didn't came close to that, so my guess is most anyone can pull it off with a single ball that happens to do very well.

Some Hints:

  • Try to keep the ball in the upper playfield as much as possible
  • When the ball is heading from the lower to upper playfield, lift the closest flipper for a better chance for it going through
  • In the bonus stage, you will lose a ball if Pauline falls to the ground. Catch her if she falls!
  • Don't go full power when launching the ball. With the right touch, it will bounce through the 1,000 point center lane several times
  • In the lower playfield, I try to aim my hits to bank off the walls to the upper playfield. Aiming at other targets has a lot of risk.

Some Point Goals

50k points = extra ball

100k points = invisible flippers  :P

150k points = flippers reappear

200k points and above = warm fuzzy feeling of a job well done

Lighting struck twice for me. Took about 40-45 minutes (This pinball game is not one to really award you lot of points at once. You really just have to patiently build your score.)

I would play but I am having to pick up our place...which meant the NES had to back on shelf for a bit.  Our apartment complex is fixing to go through a random inspection (by that it means units are picked at random for inspection)...and they are extremely picky.  The slightest thing out of place can cause the building to lose its extra income to help keep rent costs down.  So...as soon as the inspections are done I will drag the NES back out for some gaming fun.  I haven't given up yet ;)  Awesome scores, everyone!!!

I spy, with my little eyes, a 5200 on the bottom shelf.  Nice ;)  :thumb:

Yes indeed!  I picked it up for a song because the case badge was completely wrecked, so I removed it.  But it works just fine, and I love it!  It's a shame the poor thing has such a bad rep.  I do wish it was a bit smaller, but really it is almost comical how huge it is.
