  1. So hey guys, I just stumbled across this video on Youtube.

While we all are aware of Atari's E.T. game, I imagine very few of us are aware that a computer gaming company in Great Britain (of all places) totally ripped off the same basic idea and gameplay for a PC conversion.

(Stick through the full intro, guys. I know it seems at first that the video is going to follow the same old trope of E.T. being the worse game ever made, but it defies that expectation very early on.)

Uhm, I post the same video at the start of this thread Lee............?  ;)

  2.

Naw man this is not new, just articles clickbaiting  ;)

It was STARTED by this article http://www.usgamer.net/articles/begun-the-clone-wars-have-sega-fires-back-at-classic-mini-nes-with-a-mini-genesis

Which was surprising coming from Jeremy Perish but I think he knew full well the title was misleading clickbait because IN the article he mention "Based on the descriptive text at U.K. retailer Smyths Toys' website, this "new" device is little more than the latest iteration of the Genesis clone consoles a Chinese manufacturer called At Games has been issuing in different formats for the past few years. Unfortunately, they're anything but a nostalgic home run.

Just the latest "revision" of product that has been around for years but with the appearance on the Nes Mini everyone is acting like this is some new offering to challenge / compete with Nintendo. The emulation is OK but the sound reproduction leaves something to be desired :P

  3. Honestly? Coming straight from Nintendo I had to do some checking and make sure it was valid lol. I could not believe it was official. I am not surprised it will not play ROMS being from Nintendo themselves as they have always been against ROMS and emulation (outside of their own VC offerings) but to have an officially licensed plug n play with Wii / WiiU compatible classic controllers ? I admit I am surprised and impressed. Definitely a step in the right direction and good to see the big N finally embracing a concept like this. WHO KNOWS? We will see what modders / hackers do with this little baby but having that official seal, I think that is just cool. YEAH if it were any other company you know I would be all "WHERE IS THE SD SLOT? WHY CAN'T I PLAY ROMS AND ORIGINAL CARTS!!!" but honestly I was not even expecting what we are getting officially from Nintendo so I think it is a step in the right direction that will sell like mad.

  4. I guess they sell enough they can keep cranking out new revisions. I have the 2+ (the last one made based on the original chip that can have a slot added) all the ones after the 2/2+ were based on a different technology, besides slight differences in the line up I've not been interested enough to grab another, between my Harmony cartridge and several original 2600 models I'm good.

I am glad to see the portable but my eyes are not interested in screens less than 7 inch these days. Eyes started getting bad a couple years ago so even with glasses these small screens are a strain, shame as I still own several portable devices with smaller screens but I would not buy them today. Great to see it finally though, great option for others.

  5. I knew this topic reminded me of an earlier post I made and I found it! I will paste it below as well as a link to it  ;)

Yeah oddly, my first 2600 playing back in the day was on a friends console. Oh, I had many of my own loose cartridges but I spent more time looking at them in the little plastic storage case then actually playing them since I had to take them to my friends lol. The thing though, his mom was weird, very strict and on top of that like many adults back then believed having it running to long would end up wrecking the TV. But it was not only enough to simply turn off the system, no, you had to disconnect, wrap everything back up and store it back in the box, like I said, weird. So needless to say playing it usually took place after Gord's mom went to bed and of course we had to be quiet as well. But between my carts and his I still managed to play a lot despite the circumstances and it usually resulted in Gord falling asleep while I continued playing into the wee hours, some favorites were Cosmic Ark, of course Space Invaders and Breakout. It was not until some time later I got my own Vader model finally.

  6. Sure we know of Jack Black and Phil Hartman in Atari commercials.

It was not long ago I noticed it was Jane Krakowski in THIS commercial for Solar Fox. She has had quite a Stage / Television / Movie career. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Krakowski

Heh always thought she was a cutie. Sadly, she IS going the Hollywood way in that she is afraid to grow old gracefully (she is 47 now) but I remember her from way back in this 2600 commercial.

  7. What have we here guys? Why, it's a brand new video hot off the press! Check out these items I have salvaged from Electronics Recycling!

  8. Back with a brand new video! Honestly my first video in a LONG time I have put effort into. Wanted this one to be special for all the classic competing fans . A tour of the U.S.S. Midway's Navigational computers featuring Univac, tape drives and ancient storage technologies.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nsd_FzdBccQ&feature=gp-n-y&google_comment_id=z131xdqhvkzfzfpb404cih3amxmwspxrfpc0k

Here I was touring the U.S.S. Midway while visiting San Diego last year and I thought what an excellent opportunity to share some amazing old school computing tech. Here in the SINS (Ships Inertial Navigation System) Room I show you the tech that did amazing things (Univac, tapes drives, LOL memory oh my! ) despite being so underpowered. Also a display of some memory and storage options throughout history. Hope you enjoy, I wanted to branch out somewhat and this is the result.

  9. Coleco Chameleon Boss Confirms Console “Officially Tabled For Good”

 Well thank goodness he cleared that up, you know confirming what most have known for weeks now. LIKE HE HAD A CHOICE. So many holes in MIKE'S claims which is obvious to anyone who has been following this fiasco from the start, since his post though others on AA continue to shed the light and truth, not sure why he continues to think he can fool people, it is getting real pathetic at this point ! People really need to stop listening to this guy and giving him the benefit of a doubt, if anything sounds like he is attempting to appease people once more before he introduces his next great project.

  10. Hah well here is a couple videos, NOT NEW (THEY ARE FROM ABOUT 1 YEAR AGO) BUT I had never posted them on my main MaximumRD channel before today. I just uploaded them and so I share them here today. Another cheap ANDROID GAMING tablet, I love my previous JXD units but this model is by a company called GPD. What I find in general with these various cheaper import tablets is there is generally always something that is lacking. Compared to my JXD this unit seems to have a screen that is easier to scratch as well the WiFi connection seems weaker. That said for actual emulation and gaming they are pretty sweet with built in controller buttons and Dpad etc. Anyway here is an unboxing of the GPD unit followed later by a flashing of the default ANDROID firmware, this is something I do with all of these type of devices as the default firmwares while serviceable are often lacking compared to alternatives made available by homebrew developers like Skelton.

Forgotten Video! Unboxing the GPDQ88+/Q89ANDROID Gaming tablet! One of a couple videos that I had never gotten around to posting on this my main channel. OK actually it IS the GPD Q89 but at the time of ordering I was expecting the Q88+, Willgoo seemed to take a long time to ship but it worked out as I ended up with this slightly upgraded Q89 model. Anyway, here is the unboxing in part #1 which I will immediately follow up with a Custom Fimrware Flash in part #2. Thanks for watching!

Forgotten Video! GPDQ88+/Q89ANDROID Gaming tablet! Flashing CFW.

Forgotten Video! GPDQ88+/Q89ANDROID Gaming tablet! Flashing CFW. One of a couple videos that I had never gotten around to posting on this my main channel. Here you will see me Flash the Default ROM with another of Skelton's awesome custom Android Firmware's , yes I decided to do that as they are always an improvement IMHO and better than the custom stock firmware typically shipped with these cheaper import tablets.
