  1. Had a terrific Thanksgiving day.

Brought the "go-bag" in upstairs to one of the gaming areas of my nieces known as "The schoolroom". Nephew had to get a multi-tap outlet ...yada-de-ya.  First cart he wanted to play was "Space Invaders" so I went to level "33" co-operative 2 player mode then progressed up through the variations from there til we got to invisible, wiggly barricades, with doubled & fast wiggly enemy fire.

He's been getting into Looney Tunes so I brought "Taz" & had some good rounds of that. later in the evening he brought me a Spiderman PnP he found while cleaning the basement or something that needed the battery tray cleaned. So we used ""SCIENCE"" white vineger & q-tips away from all the food washing hands afterwards. had to steal batteries outta the xb360 controllers

played some boardgames, food, movie theater (Joker)

And now on to the portion we call "Thanks-feasting" next 3 days of leftovers more boardgames, videogames ping-pong, Foosball

  2. I'm thankful for this thread staring my day. (with a cuppa coffee :D  )

I'm thankful for the hobbies I have and the people I have to share them with.

The next 4 days I'll be with family (nieces & nephews) & one of the things I'll have is an Atari I keep in my "go-bag"IMG_1912.thumb.JPG.faa398bb3a7e4fc85e70da32be9010ce.JPG

    Have a Happy Thanksgiving everybody

This is what it came with. Looks like the original adapter.

I was reading online and it said that a regular Sega Genesis Model 1 power adapter can be used instead, without having to purchase a step-down transformer thingy, so that may be what I'll do instead, since I'm too hesitant to use this adapter.

    IMG_20191106_125129594_HDR.jpg

Yeah that appears to be the original one and very cool, but yeah I was going to recommend using an alliterative power supply like the Genny Model 1 or or something exactly-similar.

thanks for the pic even though most everything is written in Japaneses I can tell what the input voltage (100VAC) and output voltage (10VDC) and that the center tip is negative there is also the Amp rating (860mA)

heres a pic of a couple OEM Sega power supplies:

    IMG_1873.thumb.JPG.d2792e951cf71cb74a03f2b6054da474.JPG

Both input is 120VAC the output is different one each of them,  (9VDC & 10VDC), both center tip negative and the amp rating is 1.2A (or1200mA) so they will "handle the load"

this thing in the yellow box may work as well:

    IMG_1874.thumb.JPG.c5205706696729f05fb59feddf7f73b4.JPG

it is rated at 850mA as well

A lot of that is really technical, and I'm not sure I understand it all.

all power supplies have and INPUT voltage rating and an OUTPUT voltage rating

can you post a clear pic of the power supply you have with this info ?

This arrived in the mail today. I look forward to exploring the more unusual side of Nintendo once everything gets settled again.

A question: Is American voltage too high for the Famicom? Will I burn it out if I plug it into any outlet?

    IMG_20191105_115120190.jpg

    from this: https://www.famicomworld.com/forum/index.php?topic=6933.0

if it's an original power supply from Japan you would need an adapter

DO NOT use an origonal NES power supply as it outputs 10V AC ( not DC power )

great wright-up on power supplies in above link ;) and looks like a neat little unit you have there

  6. Oh wow, I got 2'nd place \o/

I stopped by a TV place on way home, said $30.oo deposit to check it out & will be placed towards the repair cost if done.

Well, I didn't find that TV but did find a Curtis Mathes equivalent.  https://www.curtis-mathes.com/apps/photos/photo?photoid=102606710

The CM one was mid 80's and I suspect your Philco may be in the 70's.  The date will be on the inside of the rear cover if it hasn't fallen off or no one else has been inside it.  If it has the on the plastic somewhere should be a date stamp actually etched in the plastic.  This should give an idea of when it was made.  I suspect either bad caps, power transformer out unless you still get sound, or the flyback transformer has served its life.  If you could find someone that wouldn't charge to look I'd hold on to it.  Its a museum piece!

Oh...forgot something.  These older TVs have glass tube fuses so you might try checking that.

I lost both picture & sound at the same time so thinking power circuit

Oh man, that's a tough call.

Before you decide, let it cool down overnight.  Unplug it, turn it on, then off.  It is possible that once all the capacitors are discharged, it may fire back up.  Summer heat may have caused the shutdown.  That thing is pretty cool.  Definitely worth keeping, but that's just my opinion.

I didn't unplug-replug but did let it cool down for a night. upon trying again a loud pop inside, sounded like a capacitor popped

I think it'd be worth having it professionally looked at

  8. What a brutal squad challenge, my 19" Philco TV kinda died 😢

While in attract mode it just turned itself off.

I can't seem to find what year this thing was made. there is still a local TV repair shop and I guess I could take it there. but I think it's $50.oo just to drop the thing off for them to look at ( was a few years ago anyways )

I kinda suspect it was Karma from LMAO @Atari Creep 's video above earlier that night.

I guess I'm looking for recommendations ,  have it fixt or toss it

@chas10e!!!!!! I am so sorry! I somehow missed your post until now! Of course you can be in. I added you via a similar but not really randomizer and you would be right after CG. Is that ok?

    New order:

    1. Trek
    2. CG
    3. Chase
    4. Rick
    5. Willie!

That will work out great. I missed some punk-u-ation in my post & figgered that's what may have cause corn-fusion.

Got a couple busy pinball weekends & will certainly try and keep the RJB moving along smoothly.

    Thanks: Chas.

It's been a while since I won some nerd cred.  Figures that it's the on the first home cartridge I ever had.

    Good times!  Thanks.

I was doin' good on my next try then my controller borked & lost my camera someplace . borked around 3k but I felt rolling it wouldn't have been a problem. was one of them games I could just play & play BITD.

I'm preparing for a pinball show so didn't make the time to look into what went wrong with the controller

another great squad challenge & glad I was able to put in atleast one score. @RickR crushed it!!!!

  13. 1,765

BITD I always played level 1 I think now because the selector switch on my unit was snapped off & I had to use a butter knife.

great squad challenge will definatly play some more of this with wiggly bombs & sheilds
