RickR
I think I like those display boxes more than I'd like the real console! Great pickup. Arenafoot and jmjustin6
Ballblaɀer
Hey at least i got something. Don't forget to get 'em VGA graded. Seriously, those are awesome. Did they offer them freely, or did you ask for them? The Professor, Arenafoot and Lost Dragon
jmjustin6
Well gamestop only had 4 mini NES systems. I was 6th in line. She said they were sold out, but i still saw 2 boxes behind the counter. She said they were just empty display boxes and she had 2 of each the console and controller. So me and the guy in front of me got them RickR, LeeJ07, Lost Dragon and 1 other

Starbuck66
They are so much smaller when you see them in person.... I think the color and the packaging had my Action Set I got in 1990 in my head as far as box size was concerned, but the thing is about as big as a small dictionary. Just give it time My second option was going to be buying a Raspberry Pi and giving that to my daughter instead. I think she still would have been mildly disappointed though as the look and feel of "Nintendo" would have been missing. StormSurge
The other day, I happened to see a Tweet from Cheap A** Gamer that said BestBuy.com had the Classic in stock. I got lucky & was able to order one before it sold. I held my breath for a day, waiting for the inevitable "back-order" or "order cancelled" email but the only email I received was "Your item has shipped"! I couldn't believe it!Even though my NES works fine, I'm excited to dive into this. I guess picking up that extra controller when I did wasn't a bad move after all. jmjustin6
If anyone is interested you can now hack the mini NES and add more games to it. I think it can hold up to 96 games (including the 30 already on there) https://youtu.be/DfklPLb14TQ The Professor, Justin and MaximumRD

Justin
If anyone is interested you can now hack the mini NES and add more games to it. I think it can hold up to 96 games (including the 30 already on there) https://youtu.be/DfklPLb14TQ I love that people are already figuring out cool ways to hack the NES Mini. Polygon has an informative article stemming from Madmonkey's instructions on how to hack the NES Mini which I've shared below: NES Classic Edition HACK - 84 Games Loaded A Russian hacker named Madmonkey released instructions over the weekend walking through the process of adding games to Nintendo’s much sought after NES Classic Mini. Prepping the system to add more games is relatively straight forward, requiring a game saved in the first Super Mario Bros. slot, connecting the system to a computer with the included USB cable and booting up the tiny system into FEL mode. Once prepped, an owner simply has to follow the instructions found on the Reddit thread. Videos, like the one at the top of this post, have been popping up all weekend showing the NES Classic Mini, which comes pre-loaded with 30 games, packed with a flood of other classic games. Nintendo has said that the system won’t include the ability to buy and add more games. The system’s launch was hampered by low supplies, quick sell-outs and an inordinate number of the systems popping up on eBay for two to three times the original asking price. Some believe the roll-out gave Nintendo a PR black eye just as the company was prepping the roll-out of its next console, the Switch. The Switch will be detailed at an event in Japan which will be streamed live on its website on Jan. 12. starting at 11 p.m. EST. Nintendo will stream a special installment of Treehouse Live dedicated to Nintendo Switch games on Twitch and YouTube on Jan. 13 at 9:30 a.m. ET. Finally, journalists will be able to go hands-on with the Nintendo Switch at a private event in New York on Jan. 13, 2017. From: Polygon NES Classic Edition hacked, here’s one with 84 games loaded on it 90 games may be the limit http://www.polygon.com/2017/1/9/14211402/nes-classic-edition-hack Lost Dragon, The Professor, jmjustin6 and 1 other

MaximumRD
If I HAD the spare cash and I could find one at actual retail price (or lower) I would consider it ONLY BECAUSE this is now possible. I KNOW the die hard Fanboys / purist hate this kind of thing, they are happy to keep paying Nintendo over and over for the same 30 year old games they bless them with and NOTHING MORE but this hack ADDS VALUE imho. I have heard you can put up to about 80 games (or was it 90?) That many games of your own choosing is pretty cool. NOT that I do not have a million other ways to play the roms just as well but as always to be different, a conversation piece especially for those not aware when you fire it up with not only a better selection of games but more than intended. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wG9YeTOS29w Lost Dragon, jmjustin6 and StormSurge 3 Quote I am Rob aka MaximumRD aka OldSchoolRetroGamer and THIS is my world http://about.me/maximumrd "For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. Clint Thompson
Good! I'm glad because the cheap ChineseNES ripoff I got for $22 is garbage. One of the controllers is shorting out, the screen flickers every 30 seconds and it doesn't have the SMB games I was wanting to play. I also don't want to pay $250 for an NES either.
