  1. I've hit 100 Intellivision games!

  2. Ron Howard is 70 today!  What is your favorite Ron Howard role?  Opie, Steve from American Grafitti, Richie Cunningham, or any multitude of other parts?

It's hard not to say Opie, that's such an iconic role. Happy Days is nearly as iconic, as is American Graffiti. I've really enjoyed Ron Howard as a film maker. My "favorite" role honestly has to be as the narrator on Arrested Development as the show would not be what it was without it.

      RickR

Oooh, Arrested Development narrator is a great one that I didn't think of!  Nice.

My favorite Ron Howard role is probably Richard Cunningham from "Happy Days." Opie Taylor is a close second. I have never seen all of "American Graffiti," so I have no opinion about that one.

  3. I've got a Take-n-Bake pizza in the fridge already for dinner tonight.  And not to offend anyone, but it has pineapple on it 🙂  Looking forward to eating dinner in front of the TV tonight, which we do only once in a while.

I don't know what's more blasphemous, it being a Take-n-Bake pizza or the pineapple. Jk.😉

Still coming back to this and thinking this is the perfect night 🕹️🍕

  4. A secret that shouldn't be so secret:  If you  have a Genesis Everdrive, create an SMS folder and put SMS ROM files in there.  The Genesis is fully backwards compatible with the Sega Master System ROMs and can run them no problem.

    1. Justin

      Justin

WOW I had no idea! THANK YOU @RickR! The Master System and Game Gear are very similar - can the Genesis Everdrive run Game Gear games also? Can you run Game Gear games on a Master System Everdrive?

      socrates63

Wow, thanks, Rick! I had been thinking of picking up a SMS console, but I will put away that idea. And it sounds like I don’t even need a Powerbase—nice!

I do not know about the Game Gear games, but it is worth trying.

  5. Datasoft "Zorro" on 8-bit.  An overlooked classic.

Nice. I never played this one.

      Atari 5200 Guy

I haven't either.  But I have quickly learned that Datasoft must have been one of the better third party developers.  Truth be told it is probably because of them some of the 5200 games were even made.

    3. RickR

      RickR

I've been playing more Zorro, and it is an interesting game.  It kind of reminds me of "Bruce Lee" in visual style, but it's definitely not as good.  It's more of a puzzle solving game, which is fine.  But there are issues:

      • The music repeats over and over and over.  It will get on your nerves.
      • Figuring out what to do is not very obvious.  I had to refer to on-line guides.  How the heck could any casual gamer back then figure any of this out?
      • Lots and lots of backtracking.  Take this object over there, but you also need this other object, and since you can only carry one at a time....go back and get it.

  6. The "broken" robo vac works once I replaced the battery. It's kind of impressive how much stuff it picks up. I wonder how it knows where the home base is?  I bet Rod Sterling would have written a killer Twilight Zone episode about these things.

Glad you got it working.. and just for the price of a battery!  EXCELLENT!

    2. Justin

      Justin

Funny how so many modern things are "broken" until people fix them. In previous generations our parents were able to fix a lot of household appliances and products, and if not they could always call "the TV / VCR repair man" or "The Maytag Man" etc.

    3. RickR

      RickR

I'm with you @Justin.  In a lot of cases, things now use integrated circuits and very "small" designs, making them hard to repair.  But that wasn't the case here.  The vacuum has a clearly marked battery compartment.  All that was needed was a screwdriver and set of pliers.

I have a lot of these types of "fixed" items in my home just because I love fixing things.  It's fun for me and saves things from going to the landfill.

The robo vacuum is fascinating.  I've never had one before.  It works a lot better than I thought it would.  It isn't just a sweeper, it actually does vacuum.  I'm sure everyone else already knows all this, but the part that intrigues me the most is how it goes until it's battery runs down and then somehow finds it's way back to the base station to recharge.  There must be a radio signal or something to get it back to the right spot.  I also really like how it goes into those spots that a normal vac can't reach easily, like under the bed.

  7. There is much to be thankful for, including friends and fun at Atari.io.  Peace to all.  Have a happy Thanksgiving.

Thank you! It was a very low key and relaxing one and that was how I wanted it. Took the day off from work and played some of the new games I picked up at PRGE.

  9. My face after the Jaguar GameDrive tracking says it's "out for delivery", but the mail just came and no package.

      DegasElite

Hopefully, no one took your mail! Theft can happen. I doubt it happened that way, though. :O)

    2. RickR

      RickR

Oh it gets more worrisome.  The status shows as "delivered" at 5:21pm yesterday, but no sign of the box.  I don't think it was stolen, but rather the mail person must have put it in the wrong box.  Hopefully, whichever neighbor got it will give it to me today.  Fingers crossed!

      DegasElite

Saw the other post. Glad you got the GameDrive cartridge. That must have been nerve-wracking waiting for it. Happy for you. :O)

  10. I've got a Mattel Aquarius for sale on ebay.  Check it out if you are interested!

Cool Aquarius! That's not the most common thing to have! I hope you do well in your sale @RickR, good luck 🙂

    2. Justin

      Justin

@RickR That might make a cool blog entry one day, what is the Aquarius like? Does it feel that different from an Intellivision?

    3. RickR

      RickR

Maybe I will, that's a good idea.  But AFTER the sale :)

  14. My Lynx is out for a McWill mod.

    1. Justin

      Justin

That's pretty exciting! Are you getting the VGA mod too?

    2. RickR

      RickR

Nope. May as well just play on an emulator if you want a bigger screen IMO. I think the VGA mod would be really worthwhile for those who make Lynx review videos.

The mod includes a complete re-cap job too.

  16. Anyone heard from the No Swear Gamer? I'm a little concerned....

    1. DCG

      DCG

It says he hasn't logged in for 8 days. That's not like him. He did have a gameplay video yesterday, but he might've uploaded it a week ago and set it to publish yesterday. I hope he's just on vacation or something.

The first episode is excellent. It's been a long time since I've seen it.

  19. Ebay overcharged for shipping on an item I sold. Since the difference was over $5, I gave the buyer a refund of the actual difference. Good idea?

    1. Rowsdower70

      Rowsdower70

Awesome idea. I had eBay to this to me with Argos, kinda. The auction listed the item with a certain shipping amount, but then charged me 3+ bucks more in checkout. Seller refunded it.

    2. RickR

      RickR

I've done this before, and past buyers never even left positive feedback. Felt like a sucker kind of. But best to be honest in all aspects of life.

    3. Rowsdower70

      Rowsdower70

I left good feedback. I always leave feedback. I think most sellers do anyway. :)

  20. Are you a giver, or a taker? Or a little of both?

I've been wanting Colecovision "One on One" for a long time.  It's the crappiest version of one of my favorite games.

You finally found CV One on One! I remembered you had been looking for that one forever. Now you can play inbred Sneetches basketball!

    2. RickR

      RickR

It's horrible!  I know the CV could do so much better than this.  WTH!  The horribleness makes me love it even more, though.
