Does Intellivision have the same name recognition in today's market as Atari or even Coleco? I didn't think their At Games FB console did very well, although I have one. I wonder what they expect here from a sales perspective. This will be interesting to watch.

I was wondering the same thing. This is not the NES classic and if the price point hovers around $100 I can't see anyone other than the diehards buying one. I'm not an Intellivision guy but I'd be interested if the price is right and hopefully they don't just do throwback controllers. It's the reason I don't own a real one. Those things are awful.

I am surprised nobody has questioned this statement though in their press release.  I have been waiting to see if anyone caught it :P

"The Intellivision was the first video game console that had a built in PAUSE feature". - I am pretty sure the Fairchild Channel F was the first to have a built in pause?

I never had an Intellivision but I was always intrigued by the controllers when I would play one as a youngster (even if I couldn't figure out how to use it). I've been contemplating picking one up on eBay/putting the word out here so this definitely has my interest.

I had four, yes four, Intv systems from Goodwill auctions. While I loved the console and games the controllers were a different matter. Those fire buttons are a nightmare. I would support Tommy's efforts before I would pre order the Ataribox. Tommy loves video games too much not to succeed. I see a console war repeating itself. Atari vs Intellivision.

To be honest I think the Intellivision FB did better in sales overall as compared to the CV one. Additionally the Intellivision FB was better than the CV one in the emulation and controller department. In fact, I bought two extra FB controllers when that was available and modified them internally to work on my Sears unit because the FB controllers are more comfortable and work better than originals even though it is the exact same tech inside of them.

But I'm in for a modern Intelly that plays the classics in HDMI with near 100% emulation and normal controllers but can also play some modern remakes of classics as well. Have to see how it plays out I guess.

Would you say it's easy to do that mod to the controllers?  I have a Sears Intv, and was thinking about doing the same.  The FB controllers are nicer.  The disc works more like a d-pad.

Getting the cable adapter is easier of course and also extends the cables in the process so that is a great way to go. I'm a cheap skate so I modded two of mine. It wasn't that difficult to be honest. Just had to crack them open and resolder the wires around. It was a good thing I did it too as one of the brand new controllers I ordered actually had two broken wires already from the crappy solder work that was done on the Intelly FB controllers.

I can see going either way.  I like the adapter because that makes it easily reversible...and $15 is pretty cheap for something like that if you ask me.

i wonder if they make something similar for the Colecovision Flashback controllers to work on a real Colecovision?

Brian's Man Cave did a great interview with Intellivision Entertainment President, Tommy Tallarico about the new Intellivision console. In this video, I share some highlighted info that came from it.

I like this idea better than what Atari is up to which we don't have a clue yet. At least Tommy was upfront and honest when he said he can't tell you because PR guys would get mad. But a new Intellivision released with whatever Intellivision games they can get the rights to plus new games available for $2 to $6 and no game scoring less than 7? Yea...I think I know who I will be placing my bets on between Atari and Intellivision. Sorry, but Atari doesn't seem to know what they are going to do or have not said anything while Intellivision has said plenty. Its just a shame its at least two years off but already said to be cheaper than Atari VCS. I'm excited!
