Finally got this bad boy working the way I want it to today. Video coming up later in the week about the Atari Ultimate Dual Fight Stick w/ Trackball at www.Atari7800Forever.com. #haveyouplayedataritoday #atari #atari7800

If I am honest THIS for the price interests me much more than the AtariVCS 😏 Looking forward to the video.

  2. Over in a ColecoVision Facebook Group (ColecoVision Lunatics) I commented previously on fellow member Jorge Gonzalez post about the ColecoVision Super Action Controllers, that they in fact were the first item I collected kicking off my Youtube channel back in 2008. For yucks here is the video, 3 minutes of low res cringe but it did kick off what would become a rather nice retro collection, ColeocVision related items including 2 ColecoVisions, 2600 expansion module, Steering Wheel adaptor, and I would eventually even preview the Atarimax SD flashcart for Steven Tucker beta cart (successor to his amazing USB original Atarimax ColecoVision cart) Feel free to search COLECO in my channel for several videos I made related to ColecoVision, some much improved in resolution at the very least 😆as I DID get a better camera later own, I even review a homebrew and dissect a Super Action Controller 😜 FYI I DO plan to get around to finally doing new videos though I have slowed down a lot in recent times but I can definitely do more ColecoVision related content.

  3. A Story I tend to repeat every few years 😏 Re: THE BREAKFAST CLUB, Shermer High School from The Breakfast Club (aka Old Maine North High School) -

Way too long ago when I was about 17 years old (I am 52 now) a relative invited me to Chicago to spend Christmas, generous and having lived in Toronto Canada my whole life I jumped at the opportunity so OF COURSE being a huge John Hughes fan and having seen THE BREAFAST CLUB numerous times as a result I stood in front this building for a picture, I even uhm...entered the building, found it odd there were no lockers along the walls but found a room where all the lockers were stored in, I did not understand but thought maybe this was some type of remodeling. Soon I ran into a janitor (no not HIM 😛) who of course informed me the school was not actually functioning and was only used for filming or events, it had closed as a school due to low attendance, he said I was not allowed to be in the building and to leave, he didn't really seem upset or forceful so I assumed it was not an unusual occurrence for people to enter the building. Still I thought I would push my luck and asked if it would be possible for me to see the library, he said it is not even possible as the Library as seen in the film was a set they had built in the gymnasium. So I left, walked across the school field and you can guess that of course I raised my arm up in the air as I approached the goalpost in John Bender style. 😏 Sadly, this was taken with my crappy 110 camera and being young and stupid I didn't even think I would not really be identifiable or I'd have taken a few more shots close up for context 😜

  4. Well, before meeting my beloved wife 15+ years ago I had only ever traveled within my country except for a trip to Chicago thanks to a relative inviting me to spend Christmas, amazing to me as I visited the School where they filmed THE BREAKFAST CLUB. Other than that though no real travel or really the means to do so. Then I met Melissa 😍 which would change my life in many ways including travel as she had a passion for it. Now, me I cannot say I enjoy travel per say, I tend to "live in the moment" so, my enjoyment starts for me once I have arrived, exploring, sight seeing etc. So, my travel would begin with meeting my Melissa, a year later getting married in LAS VEGAS 😜 Honeymoon in Dominican Republic. We would soon move from Toronto Ontario where I had lived all my life to a small city in B.C. called Kelowna, outside of visiting various neighboring towns and cities throughout the Okanagan and B.C. we've vacationed many places, sometimes bed and breakfasts, sometimes all inclusive resorts and even a cruise around the Hawaiian Islands. Destinations have included -

    Canada:

Whistler / Lake Louise / Banff / Salt Spring Island /

    Outside Canada:

Cuba / Mazatlán /  Playa Del Carmen / Cozumel / Alaska / Nashville / San Diego

  5. It has been shown the AtariOS can be booted on hardware, images and videos have been shown it booting on laptops and desktops with various degrees of success, meaning issues with networking, sound etc, sound is sometimes fixed plugging in a USB audio device etc. 😜😎more surprises, while the AtariOS USB stick I created worked on my desktop and a up laptop to various degrees it didn’t work on my old bedroom desktop, due to no no uefi boot options. I also imaged this Sata drive, plugged into 2011 MacBook Pro and held down option key when booting, displayed a drive called efi and it booted, Bluetooth even seems to be working though I have no Bluetooth controller, no network though I am sure it would be fine if I plugged in Ethernet. Figured would not hurt to try 😆Nice use for the old recycle bin find MacBook! I had yet to see this done on Apple hardware so thought I would share.

  6. Latest video from the fellow booting Atari OS on other machines. Note his comical description 😀

😎Love his description - "Just a video showing you how to restore the Atari VCS operating system. Here is the link to the document provided by Atari:
    https://docs.google.com/document/d/17TeJMIZcLIsGMJEHlQAxOb_YdIuX4GoL4bvBExAudWU/edit
As mentioned in the video, this is ONLY to be booted on an Atari VCS console and definitely SHOULD NOT be booted on ANY other machine.

  7. Is the ball in these typically that yellowish color when new? After seeing images in some recent topics I decided to dig mine out of storage, forgot what great condition mine was in and about the only thing I have that also still has the clear plastic on the aluminum strip (MUST RESIST REMOVING 😛) I really need to try this accessory more as it seems to be in excellent shape however, I noticed like many pictured the ball seems discolored yellowish, looking up images online it seems it WAS originally white? If it should be white might look into brightening or SHOULD I BOTHER? Is it more trouble than it is worth? I only lightly tested it upon receiving the 5200 / games etc in a lot years ago. I should do more testing and also maybe give it some maintenance if required. ANY GOOD TUTORIALS or videos on that? Also, I may have posted similar at one time but my memory is not getting any better 😛 Still, thanks in advance for any / all replies....

  8. It would seem now even another sign the AtariVCS was rushed out the door so quickly to meet the open arms of backers 😂that yet another shortcut was taken in that the AtariOS was not even encrypted! Hmmm I a not sure WHERE this bit of info belongs amongst all things AtariVCS but I do find it interesting, I do not know much about more technical things so FYI if anyone feels the need you wont be correct ME as I am just relaying this video and info as I found it just now. At the very least seems interesting. Does this mean one does not even particularly need the specific console to enjoy all the great and magical things Atari OS offers 🤨🤔😀? Might anyone enjoy it using these methods on ANY low end Linux box or perhaps single board computer? Does this make the actual AtariVCS console even more irrelevant? Or was this whole thing faked by some horrible TROLL HATER? 😛 THE MIND BOGGLES !!!!

I ordered one of these for my brother and I just got it today. What i cant figure is , do you charge it with the usb??  And then it says not to charge while unit is on , well it flashes all these game pics so i cant tell if its on or not ....i assume it is off .  Then I get it plugged into computer , the screen flashes  a battery charging and then reverts over to connecting to pc.  whats that about , which is it doin or is it doin both????     A manual wouldve been helpful instead of a paper talking about all its cool functions (just not the ones to get it runnin!!!)

I will just say this about what I have noticed with similar devices over the years. Regarding plugging into a computer, I cannot answer if it is "doing both" because that simply depends on a couple things. Keep in mind USB ports on a computer generally DO supply POWER to whatever USB device you've connected to it. Now, the computer may not supply power to those ports if your computer is OFF however in some cases it still will and sometimes this option can actually be set in your computers BIOS. I can only assume since you've indicated that the device screen flashes a battery charging indication when you first connect it that it is indeed charging. When it THEN reverts over to connecting to PC, here is what "that's about", IT'S CONNECTING TO PC. 😉 Many devices like this, when connected to PC USB port will quickly be recognized by the PC as an EXTERNAL USB DEVICE or STORAGE DRIVE by the operating system. It will literally treat it as an external USB drive so basically you should be able to see the devices internal storage, inserted SD card contents etc, just like anything else connected to your PC. This just gives you an extra option to transfer files, roms etc, between your handheld device and the PC. In the meantime, because it is still connected, it SHOULD still be supplying power to the device and charging. Now, if you are looking to only charge the device then the only option is to plug the handhelds USB cable into an external USB charger, the device screen would then show the same charging status you mentioned and continue doing so (OR the screen may just go blank at some point to preserve power and continue charging, I don't know the particular details of your specific device of course) the difference of course is it will NOT switch over to the PC connecting screen since it is not connected to a PC port but just a simple USB charger. Basically, without a detailed manual / instructions which sadly these cheaper devices are famous for, not knowing or having experience with your particular device it might be hard for anyone else to guide you further, I suggest you keep in mind what I have told you here and simply try things, fiddle with it and hopefully you will sort things out. The only other thing I could suggest is providing more info about the device, the exact name, model number and image IF possible, maybe link to where you bought it? At the very least the could help people attempting to assist you. It is difficult to give exact proper instructions otherwise since these devices sometimes vary in features and operations from one another, unlike a standard gaming handheld, where the same instructions would apply for everyone. Only experience over years with similar devices allows just a small bit of help as I've attempted to provide, OF COURSE should anyone else have any other recommendations or ideas for you they can feel free to chime in.

  10. Been playing Nascar Rumble - Playstation & the sequel Rumble Racing - Playstation 2 and remembering what a blast it was playing these back in the day. Really just adrenaline rush racing with power ups like Mario Kart, the "NASCAR" licensing didn't really add anything to the point they dropped it in the PS2 follow up. Just spent a few hours playing both, forgot what a blast they are to play. 😎😜 Not the prettiest games and not often brought up even in retro gaming circles so thought I would mention and recommend them to anyone who may have over looked them. PICS FOR REFERENCE .

  11. If I am honest I really don't BUT THAT SAID I will always have a warm spot for the format as I managed a Video Store back in the day, well that puts it lightly, as a young adult I literally LIVED IN a small family owned video store because I slept on a cot in the back room through the week 😆this assured I was there first thing in the morning to open as well as work all day and close but the added advantage was the moment the door locked for the night I would peruse the shelves to pick my viewing for the night. Let's just say these were my FULL MOON VIDEO years lol. I watched just about every straight to video scifi and horror flick, good times. This was also the time I would use composite video output of my Amiga and make simple animated titles for my home VHS movies. There will always be a fond memory of analogue video editing for me that was lost when everything went digital. When we moved here over 15 years ago I sold the last of my remaining VHS movie collection, I let it go insanely cheap to a small privately owned local video store that was just starting up and was still in business to this day so it made me feel good that people were renting those and still enjoying the many treasures I collected over the years. 😍We live in a small 1 bedroom condo so space which is always at a premium was always abused by me and my collections and hobbies so sacrifices had to be made. I literally have only a couple original VHS movies, all my home movies have been converted by me to DVD's. I still have a couple decks though, over the years I pulled a couple nice ones out f recycling and I even have some blank tapes left, even an unopened pack that again I found, a resident had left downstairs for disposal (we have an area not official but people just leave stuff there so other residents can take them before they get tossed) so I kept these things even if I will likely never use them just out of nostalgia. For some reason I could not give up my Hellraiser II Special VHS edition.

That is cool!  But I have questions.

    1.  I get that this is a PC emulator.  But are you running the game using a PS2 disc?

Well, I guess I only had one question.

😀  Yes, it is a great emulator for PC to run and play PS2 games, works very well, starts up with the PS2 logo and everything, even emulates memory cards and behaves just like the system.

As for the game, you can run in different ways, from the emulator Wiki:

Insert your PS2 game CD/DVD in your DVD rom. You can either run it directly from the disc or create an ISO image of your disc with a program like IMGburn for faster reads.

In this case as always I downloaded an ISO image of the game and the emulator can boot from those. I have Silent Hill 2 for PS2 but it was the original version so in order to play this scenario I needed a copy of a later release "Extended" version of the game. As I said it is nice having the option to run these games at higher resolutions then what is native to the PS2. The emulator also has options as one pleases for cheats, widescreen patches etc. Here is a couple screen grabs for reference.

    Emulator info https://pcsx2.net/

  13. 😎😍Well  that is just awesome, a while ago I read in a Silent Hill Facebook Group post someone asked about replaying Silent Hill 2, I have only played it originally on the  PS2, someone mentioned to be sure to play the version that has the Maria sub scenario “Born From a Wish” and amazingly I never have!  😮 I loaded it  up from the extended PS2 edition in PCSX2 emulator, looks and plays  great, never thought I would be playing and experiencing anything Silent  Hill 2 related that was new to me. LOVING THIS! The best part is in emulation I can far higher resolutions than the PS2 could ever run natively, works perfectly with my wireless Xbox 360 gamepad (like movement, drawing firing weapon, run, look etc were instantly configured!) and unlike some older PC ports of some PS2 games there is no issues with compatibility or requirements with newer versions of Windows.

  14. Firstly, a huge and long time ATARI fan here like many of you and still owner of several original Atari consoles and computer and accessories 😉 I lived and love the history of Atari OBVIOUSLY and it saddens me that Atari will never be even a fraction of what it once was even in the different stages (Atari / Warner / Tramiel) back in the day. But at the same time many people seem blindly loyal to that name and logo to the point the will even today, grab up anything officially labeled "ATARI" even though most of it is overpriced junk conning Atari fan consumers and gambling on their nostalgia. This is why even though Atari managed to market and complete a fund raising goal for the new upcoming AtariVCS, early on called the AtariBox but fans and backers keep defending them even though the console they were promised has changed, has been delayed several times with promised shipping dates over and over being pushed back, any engagement has been very controlled and curated with comments often getting removed or people being banned in forums or groups where they represented themselves whenever challenged or backed into a corner where they could not provide a "real" answer, hype marketing talk or skirting around the questions or giving non-answer answers seems to be their specialty. And yet the funny (sad? pathetic?) thing is backers or fans that STILL insist on defending them for really NO OTHER REASON than that blind nostalgia for a long dead company that keeps making promises but actually delivering on very little. Oh and to be clear, I AM NOT SAYING NOR DO I BELIEVE that the backers will never receive what they paid for, in fact at least at this point I still believe they will all receive something....eventually....maybe? 😜  but even that will be far from anything worth what they paid outside of collector purposes or that "official" Atari name and logo being worth a LOT (and admittedly it clearly is to some) I truly believe even the most hard core defender of the AtariVCS and the people behind it would have a totally different view and opinion of what's on offer and for the amount it cost as well as the project developers behaviors to date if it were all being handled by some small unknown start up that were not incorporating the ATARI brand name.

And once again, because I know some get triggered by such heresy defaulting to the usual claim I am a "Hater / NO FUN / troll / pessimist etc" this is not the case at all, I WOULD HAVE LOVED Atari to rise like a Phoenix from the ashes and again I am a long time Atari collector who has played and enjoyed Atari through history during all the ups and downs, I even loved and completed Raider of the Lost Ark and E.T. for 2600 backing the day 😎 But with I grow tired seeing the beloved Atari name whored out constantly on garbage product merely to capitalize on the once great brand.

Some of you may not even be aware of what I am babbling on about but even if you DO you might not be up to snuff about it all. This video by REREZ sums it all up quite well imho.

Honestly, did not expect much but this video actually contains some good points and well stated views regarding "ATARI" today as well as the AtariVCS etc. Sure it is just regurgitating what many of us already know but before you dismiss it have a watch, some people could use this wake up call about modern ATARI especially the blind faithful who think anything modern day ATARI still has something worthwhile to offer.

  15. NOTE: I do NOT typically wear a mask in our car, and we wear masks only wear requested / required such as medical appointments or where masses of people gather etc. I wore it in car this time as we were on our way to an eye exam but also to show the viewers the mask my wife made from an old Slimware utilities T-shirt that never fit me. 😆😎
Just sharing for fun. Woke up to a major snowfall last week, it was very unseasonal for us this time of the year, a week later it's all but gone so it was either a freak thing OR who knows? Might be the way the weather is heading with changing climates. Please know that though I DO live in Canada unlike what many Americans and those outside Canada may think, my particular city located in the Okanagan is unlike surrounding B.C. cities like the very cold Winnipeg (often referred loving as WINTERPEG with good reason!) so this early huge snowfall came as we also experienced record low temps.

What is the weather like in Okanagan?
Average high temperature (summer): 28 C/84 F. Average low temperature (winter): -8 C/16 F. Average Hours of Sunshine: over 2000 per year. Average Rainfall: Approximately 300 mm/11in yearly.

  16. Love DREAMCAST, still have 3 original consoles. Back in the day of course I followed development, news, articles but that only conveys so much right? How this system was next level power etc, ok sounds great. Then one day as I was on the second floor of our local mall I approached the gaming shop and I SWEAR THIS IS 100% true, from a distance my immediate reaction was "Oh what the hell? Is the manager a huge Football fan? YOU ARE DISPLAYING A FOOTBALL GAME INSTEAD OF VIDEOGAMES? (keep in mind I am not much a sports fan and definitely not a football fan) seriously is there and important game on what........HOLY SHIT...NO WAY....(as I approached and got closer it began to sink in)...THAT NOT A TELEVISED FOOTBALL GAME....THAT IS AN GOOD DAMNED DREAMCAST GAME!!!!!" - as I say, I was so impressed by a football game visuals I knew that this was definitely the next level of gaming consoles and I HAD to have it. Such a shame the whole DREAMCAST generation lived for such a short time, there was still so much more potential for great games, they introduced concepts and tech way ahead for consoles. Still, in it's short life, at least it still introduced many cool arcade ports as well as interesting and unusual titles in typical SEGA fashion. EVEN some unreleased games became obtainable online since the prototypes were dumped (Half Life, Propeller Arena) great accessories like the Fishing Rod for those great SEGA BASS FISHING games. So much potential.

  17. The mix of manufacturer parts, reminds me back in the day, before the clear winner was obvious I admit I preferred and was in the BETA camp of the format wars. I had and loved my sleek looking ZENITH branded Beta machine. Opened it up one day, might have been to clean the heads manually or just my usual curiosity / tinkering, anyway several parts inside were branded as SONY. So I guess SONY was the actual manufacturer of ZENITH BETA machines? If I recall before SONY started their own line of VHS decks they pretty much had a stranglehold on the BETA format which I guess explains them actually being the manufacturer with I guess ZENITH and I am guessing other brands just licensing SONY tech to put in their machines.

  18. An awesome video continuing from the Elvira thread, sums up even better her career and what she is currently up to. AS WELL do yourself a favor and check out his channel and tons of other great videos on all the movies, tv shows and celebs, great insight and fun well done videos by Dave Sundstrom.

Channel description - This YouTube channel is my outlet for my creativity.  Most of the time, I talk about music, movies and television from 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s.  You know...THE GOOD STUFF!  I am happy that you have found my channel.  I hope you enjoy my little corner of YouTube!

  19. Heh, well a long overdue update but in case anyone has not noticed but obviously I, as apparently many I know, took this "retirement" out of context. To be clear, she retired the ELVIRA character ONLY from headlining at Knox Berry Farms where she headlines a live show for many years. She did this to free up time and pursue other projects like her autobiography and an animated project which I am guessing was her characters appearance on a recent Scooby Doo Halloween special. So,now at 69 she is STILL rocking and to celebrate and be thankful here is a recent video she released - I've never been happier to be wrong 😛
